Initial testing with the new available QuarkXPress 7 version shows that HELIOS ImageServer is compatible with QuarkXPress 7 using the same features like XPress 6.5, with these compatibility issues:
HELIOS Preview XT:
The existing Preview XTension for QuarkXPress 6.5 does not work with version 7. A new QuarkXPress 7 compatible HELIOS Preview XT is under development and will be released later this summer.
HELIOS OPI TuneUp XT:
This XTension enables QuarkXPress to allow colorized linework and grayscale images to print composite for proper in-RIP separation. This feature is still missing in QuarkXPress 7. The existing HELIOS OPI TuneUp XT for QuarkXPress 6.5 does not work with version 7, a new QuarkXPress 7 compatible XTension is under development and will be released later this summer.
XPress 7 Transparency Features:
The new QuarkXPress 7 transparency feature is incompatible with true PDF transparencies and therefore breaks HELIOS PDF-native OPI image replacement. Outputting QuarkXPress 7 documents via PostScript or PDF will result in low-res areas for layout images overlapped by transparent objects. We reported this to Quark and requested that they enhance their transparency support to make it compatible with PDF 1.4 or newer.
