HELIOS releases full QuarkXPress 6 support, 16 XTensions now availableGarbsen, Germany -- April 22, 2004 -- HELIOS Software GmbH, a leading provider of file, print and prepress server solutions has updated its ImageServer product to support QuarkXPress 6, as well as 4 and 5 on Mac OS X, Mac OS 9 and Windows platforms including Japanese versions. The "HELIOS OPI TuneUp" and "HELIOS Preview" XTensions are available for free download for ImageServer users with software upgrade service. The HELIOS OPI TuneUp XTension enables full QuarkXPress OPI workflow support and allows working with foreground and background colorized images as well as DCS-2 images containing spot colors. This ensures proper separation for composite (in-RIP DeviceN) and separated PostScript output or PDF generation using the HELIOS ImageServer image replacement. HELIOS ImageServer 2.5 enables users to overcome some limitations within QuarkXPress. E.g. QuarkXPress 3 through 5 cannot produce DeviceN output, and QuarkXPress 3 through 6 cannot produce in-RIP separations. Utilizing these previews, local and remote Web based users can preview QuarkXPress documents from creation to final output, without needing access to the application, documents, fonts, or images. Previews can be viewed via any Web browser using the included Web server CGI to publish directories with document previews. Sample document previews can be seen at http://www.helios.de/cgi-bin/docpreview.cgi. Full remote file viewing, management, and transfer is provided by the optional HELIOS WebShare, for easy and secure remote collaboration, using any Web browser. These multi-page preview files facilitate finding documents, content verification, and local and remote collaboration. Preference settings specify the preview resolution. ImageServer Action Scripts allow fully automated processing for archiving, printing, converting to any major image file format, or to a customized workflow. These new XTensions are components of HELIOS ImageServer 2.5 (formerly EtherShare OPI). ImageServer includes OPI image replacement, server-based ICC color management, color separation, and proof printing capabilities, as well as server-based image repurposing with conversion of image file format, resolution, color space, and compression, for web and print needs. HELIOS ImageServer 2.5 is part of the HELIOS 4th generation family of network and prepress server solutions.
