All HELIOS Software server products will be available for the new Mac OS X operating system. This includes EtherShare 2.6, PCShare 3, EtherShare OPI 2.1, PDF Handshake 2 including PDF Internet Printing, and Print Preview.
The foundation of the new Apple operating system is based on the Mach multiprocessor kernel, BSD 4.4 networking, the UFS file system and the Posix API which has been proven for years in the Compaq Alpha Tru64 UNIX operating system.
With full support of today's software and hardware technologies like FireWire, Fast & Gigabit Ethernet, Apache, Perl, ColorSync, QuickTime, Sherlock, TrueType & Type 1 fonts, native PDF imaging, preemptive multitasking, multithreading, multiuser, Sun-RPC, and AppleScript the new Mac OS X operating system offers a solid, state-of-the-art, modern computing environment which is unique in the computer industry.
Installation is as easy as the previous Mac OS 9. The Finder user interface makes it very easy for anyone to master Mac OS X. The Carbon/Cocoa API ensures compatibility for modern applications benefitting from Mac OS X. The Classic environment even allows running today's Mac OS 8/9 applications.
HELIOS is fully committed to support Mac OS X with all HELIOS server products. Mac OS X is a first-class citizen of the HELIOS-supported server platforms. Compatibility of product features on all existing platforms allows customers to choose the server platform they feel comfortable with. As Mac OS X will be the only Apple operating system in the future we expect good future hardware and software support from Apple.
