1. New Test Drive UB+ preview-5
The steady progress of the new HELIOS UB+ product development
will take a major step forward next week with the release of the
Test Drive preview-5. New color management options have been added
to the HELIOS Admin ICC and printer settings, WebShare now omits
binary previews of non-previewable file types, and the InDesign
CS3 ImageServer plug-ins are included. A video at: www.helios.de
introduces the new features and Test Drive download details.
2. iPhone in action
Visitors to the HELIOS booth at Graph Expo and Apple Expo Paris
were delighted to see that using HELIOS WebShare with the Apple
iPhone really extends server access. Using the iPhone or any Web
browser, you can perform remote file management, image and document
proofing, PDF preflighting, and more, wherever you are. The iPhone
screen quality is superb, and the convenience cannot be beat!
Get a full look at WebShare UB+ proofing for the iPhone, by visiting
the HELIOS web site.
3. UB+ most advanced ICC color management
HELIOS has long led the way in implementing ICC color management, beginning in 1995 with the HELIOS ColorSync 2 XTension for QuarkXPress. In UB+, HELIOS incorporates the most advanced ICC color management into ImageServer, PDF HandShake, and PrintPreview, for the highest quality color matched: proofing, image conversion, printing, content repurposing, and WebShare image and document previews. New UB+ features include support for Black Point Compensation (BPC), grayscale profiles, DeviceLink profiles, and ICC 4 profiles. HELIOS has long had support to detect and preserve Grays, Whites, and Blacks, and UB+ can now preserve primary colors as well. Also, the ICC profile tagging application goes cross-platform for Mac and Windows.
4. HELIOS in latest Seybold Report
"Art Directors May Never Have Vacations Again"
In an article on page 5 of The Seybold Report September 20, 2007
(http://www.seyboldreports.com/),
the author discusses how "The WebShare iPhone interface is
simple in concept and fascinating in its implications for art
directors and other publishing collaborators," concluding
that "it will be increasingly difficult for art directors
and production managers to leave their work at the office."
