1. World of HELIOS: Andreas von Bechtolsheim
Do you know Andreas von Bechtolsheim, a co-founder of Sun in 1982? With our latest 10 Gigabit Ethernet performance testing this name comes up again. We tested a Sun X4500 Server code-named "Thumper", and a brand new 48 port 10 GB Ethernet switch from Arastra. Exciting products, which have in common:
- Very innovative products
- Excellent price/performance
- Designed by Andreas von Bechtolsheim (Andy)
We have chosen to use these products for our network performance testing. We did know that Andy was behind the Sun X64 servers, after our testing was completed we also learned that he is behind the 10 Gb switches. Very cool products, thank you Andy.
2. HELIOS UB+ file server offers record performance (600MB/s)
After using 1 Gigabit Ethernet for almost a decade, the time is right to investigate server solutions utilizing 10 Gigabit network servers. 10 Gigabit Ethernet for Mac and Windows clients will go mainstream in the future. To keep up with 10 Gigabit networks the server needs to provide sufficient disk I/O, which cannot be achieved by using traditional Fibre Channel or SCSI storage systems.
We believe that the excellent price/performace ratio of less than 1,- € (Euro) per Gigabyte for the complete server, warrants serious consideration by all high demand sites. The complete tested configuration is documented on the HELIOS web site:

3. HELIOS drupa seminar: HD Color
The "HD Color" seminar will present future color quality improvements utilizing the latest ICC 4 color technologies in a full 16-bit per channel color workflow for image re-purposing, printing and proofing. Learn how ICC DeviceLink profiles will preserve separations when switching between different printing processes.

4. HELIOS drupa seminar: Customer retention using WebShare
This seminar will present how to collaborate with remote customers, contractors and employees worldwide. It will also discuss implementing Web-based remote file distribution, and image and document proofing processes. Learn how a new Web-based DTP "Drag & Drop" workflow with synchronization will increase productivity.
