1. World of HELIOS
Are you ready for UB+? Already, customers have upgraded to UB+ much faster than previous versions. This is due to their confidence in our solutions, and their desire for the latest features. Now is the time to move to the HELIOS UB+ product generation, instead of just discussing it. Sometimes we hear arguments like: "... we need to support it" , "... never change a running system", or "... we don't have the time for upgrades".
Think again:
- HELIOS UB+ has been in development and testing for years
- HELIOS UB+ upgrades can be done safely and quickly
- HELIOS UB+ receives our highest support attention.
Why deny your users the improved performance, compatibility, and features?
Switching quickly to UB+ means that you benefit from higher stability, great new features, and a fully supported product generation. Using UB+ avoids possible compatibility issues and problems upfront, which saves time later on.
2. New SQL desktop database in HELIOS UB+
This new desktop database contains an index of all files/folders within a volume with their unique IDs, to ensure full Mac and Windows client compatibility. If a server aborts without a proper shutdown, the previous desktop database automatically started a rebuild to re-index the volume.
Now, in such cases, the new SQL desktop database doesn't need to run a rebuild. The built-in transaction journaling ensures that the desktop database is consistent and volumes can be mounted within seconds.
Another significant benefit is that the on-line desktop database flushing allows re-publishing a read-only snapshot of a file system while continuing with the live read-write volume. This is crucial for proper system snapshots and backups.
This is accomplished by flushing and then locking the desktop database for the brief time span that it takes to be saved. The ".Desktop" file can then be backed up, with no interruption of HELIOS services.

3. WebShare UB+ color matched proofing and separations preview
WebShare UB+ web-based ICC remote proofing utilizes ImageServer UB+ to generate ICC color matched previews of images and PDF files. The previews are displayed correctly color matched within the Safari web browser on any remote Mac or Windows system.
Simply click on an image name within WebShare, select the zoom level and ICC profile, and WebShare does the rest.
In addition, fonts in images and PDFs are specially rendered at a higher resolution, and then scaled down, to maximize the quality of previews.
PrintPreview adds the capability to view separations. Select the color options, and view individual and/or multiple plates, including spot colors.
WebShare proofing is fast, and convenient, with no consumables.
4. UB+ PCShare/WebShare/EtherShare super fast find file
The new PCShare UB+ Windows shell extension allows finding any file/folder on a HELIOS server volume within a few seconds. Thanks to our ".Desktop" file index database and the new PCShare UB+ extension, find file operations are done within seconds instead of hours. The same search is available within WebShare UB+, and of course from Mac clients.

6. Updated HELIOS Tech Info #105 Vista PCShare UB+
Microsoft fixed a login problem when the Windows username and password is different on the PCShare UB+ Server. Installing the Microsoft Vista hotfix or installing Vista SP1 will resolve this problem. More information can be found in the HELIOS TechInfo #105 at:
